VDP front 'blunt' switchup 180 out 5 Months ago Karma: 2
Shot this almost 2 months ago when the voleurz guys were in town.

As you can tell by the thread title it was not a trick that works well as a single image to tell the whole story. This was my favourite frame..

(+) he's isolated from the background
(+) i believe you can tell what's going on (ie where he came from and where he's going)
(+) DoF
(+) sun rim

(-) size of feature is small for snowboarding, i'll toss up sequence which may make it look more legit?
(-) his positioning may look awkward to some
(-) no 2011 product (does this reduce the chance of it running anywhere? in my mind - yes)
(-) could use fill flash, I have no flash experience yet so that is something I need to work on

sequences which haven't been stiched don't really work for me. So single frame.

But that single frame has some issues for me;
twigs? whats up with that? they sorta frame him, but pretty distracting, they feel out of context
props on the lighting, really rad
i'd like to see a bit more at the bottom, its just tough to tell what was happening unless you see the description or the sequence. If we could see the kicker it would help a lot.
DOF; would be nice if it were even more narrow, the bkg is still distracting me quite a bit.

Richard, Matt and Reuben thanks for the critiques - i agree the foreground twigs are a bit of a pain, I had broken most of them off when I got to this angle, but obviously not enough, I must have shifted slightly and they got in there.

Thanks on the lighting, but I wasn't really thinking about that when I was shooting, I guess that was just a lucky accident. I was mainly looking for an angle that would give the feature justice as many other angles were making it look really small.

I would have liked to see more of the kicker as well, but I don't have a shorter lens that would have worked in that situation.. 65mm would have been key here instead of the 70.

Sequence for me, the feature looks kinda small for a still.
Snowboard mags are looking for more tech tricks sequences these days too,
Great colors and exposure!
the trick could be executed better tho..
