Bag 2 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
Im interested in knowing what bags everyone uses, all my recent purchases means i have to much gear for my old one. Have been tossing up between the f-stop and the dakine bags.

Its gotta hold:
- Canon 5d body
- 13 inch mac book
- Canon 70-200 2.8
- Canon 15mm fish
- Canon 85mm 1.8
- Canon 50mm 1.8
- Tokina 17mm
- 2x speedlights
- cyber syncs filters etc

I also need it to be small enough to go on flights as carry on (does anyone know if the tilopa is small enough?)
I will be using it to shoot snowboarding so will also need something i can ride with

Cheers,

Ben

Both the Tilopa and Satori would fit all that gear. Now you just need to figure out how to get your hands on one, I think they are all sold out... tk

Oh and the Satori (and smaller Tilopa) fit in the overhead bins on all airplanes even the smaller Canadair commuter Jets. tk

Hi, the Tilopa will make you a happy camper. It will fit all your gear listed and more. It will also do it in great comfort. I am on the road and in a rush... if you need more info please email ian@fstopgear.com.

The new and improved Tilopa bag should be out and ready to ship this month.

Thanks

I've got a Dakine Sequence which is very good, not perfect. It's got room for all that stuff, but there is no dedicated laptop compartment. You could carry a laptop in the outer compartment as long as it has it's own separate padded sleeve. It is comfortable when riding bikes, and I can securely carry a couple light stands and a tripod when I need to. Mine's a 2008, I've heard that the 2010's have a few more organizer pockets and maybe a bigger camera block, which is the padded, removable, reconfigurable, bag which holds your lenses and bodies. It's adjustable like a backpacking backpack, but doesn't have quite the support that an internal-frame style backpack has. It fits in overhead compartments of every plane I've been on, even smaller commuter planes. Plus, Dakine is really good about repair/warranty issues if you have any. Hope that helps.

I'm also looking at a new bag.

Requirements:
* able to carry 2x lightstands/tripods and still being able to access camera gear (back-entry?).
* able to strap snowboard on.
* weather sealed.
* strong enough to protect gear in a fall.
* comfortable enough to use riding (bikes & boards). This takes Burton's Zoom bag out of the running.
* not look like a camera bag

Depending on the amount of gear you have the Lowepro Primus AW that might be worth a look.

I originally got mine for travelling because it has a camera section and an open pack section. both sections open from the back (gypsie proof!) with a quick access camera pocket on the side. It is really comfy to lug around and has a lot of adjustment straps. so far riding with it has been no problem.

I get a d90+grip 10-22mm 80-200 2.8 35 1.8 and 60 2.8 in the camera section and carry flashes and triggers in the top section with all my tools and other misc stuff. it has a big jacket pocket in the front and a tripod harness thing too. only problem I can think of is the limit space for glass. It does force you to be a little selective with lens choices, which is probably a good think really.
